Yr5 Trip to the Science Museum
Yr5 were amazed by the space galleries in the Science Museum.
On Tuesday, the Yr5 children travelled to South Kensington to visit the Science Museum. They were so fantastic on the overground and underground that members of the public commented on how well-behaved they all were. We are very proud of our children being such good ambassadors for our school.
Whilst at the museum, Yr5 participated in the 'Mission to Space' workshops. They journeyed through space and time in an out-of-this world interaction show. They found out more about our solar system and space exploration. They also learnt about how our ideas on space have changed over time. The demonstrations were great fun and the children laughed a lot!
Their favourite facts of the day were:
- If you don't wear a space helmet or suit in space, your insides become outsides!
- You can make a rocket using a water bottle, lighter and a candle.
- The speed of light is 7.5 times around the earth in one second!
- Jupiter has a big red spot that is actually a sand storm. It has been growing for hundreds of years.
- Pluto is a dwarf planet.
