Italian
Aim
As a school, we value Modern Foreign Language as a curriculum subject as it encourages children to have a broader understanding of our world. The aims of our MFL curriculum are:
- To foster an interest in learning another language
- To introduce young children to another language in a way that is enjoyable and fun
- To make young children aware that language has structure, and that the structure differs from one language to another
- To help children develop their awareness and interest of cultural differences in other countries
- To develop confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing in another language
- To lay the foundations for future study
Approach
As a school, our Modern Foreign Language is Italian. We offer high quality lessons delivered by an Italian specialist. We have worked with the Italian Consulate for many years and they have provided expert teachers, planning and guidance for this area of the curriculum.
