Welcome from the Head Teacher

At St William of York Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that we provide a safe, nurturing, positive and inclusive experience for our children, parents and staff.

We aim for excellence in all that we do and encourage our pupils to achieve their full potential. We work in partnership with parents to celebrate the uniqueness of every child and embrace the individual gifts and talents of all of those in our school community. We are an inclusive school and we welcome families of all faiths, or no faith at all.

Year 3 had a fantastic time visiting Catford Library last week. The children loved exploring the books, listening to stories and learning how to use their local library. It's important not to forget brilliant places like this on our doorstep, and to make the most of our local community! #SWOY #Stwilliamofyork #catholicprimaryschool #Lewisham #SElondon #SE23 #catford #catfordlibrary #local

Congratulations to Miss Dempsey, our EYFS Leader, for achieving this award. Miss Dempsey was awarded this certificate of recognition from Drumbeat ASD Outreach for her exceptional work and leadership in the EYFS. Miss Dempsey ensures that every child is actively included, engaged, and empowered in their learning. Her work reflects a deep respect for children's communication, independence, and voice, and her impact on their confidence, participation, and enjoyment is clear. It may have been a rainy day here at SWOY, but it definitely didn't dampen our spirits! The classrooms were buzzing with writing, art and music, while @munchkinsports_ brought the energy during their sports sessions and lunchtime dance club in the playground! We're sure the children will sleep well this evening! Have a lovely weekend! Just a few snippets from our school day today. To the parents wondering how their children's day was unfolding, this is what it looked like thoughtful writing, curious questions, early reading sounds, hands busy exploring and imaginations alive in play. We're always amazed by just how much our children accomplish in one day! #stwilliamofyork #catholicprimaryschool #lewisham #selondon #foresthill #education #swoy #adayinthelife

Years 2, 3, 5 and 6 have had the amazing opportunity to work with a Kent Cricket coach, coming in once a week to build skills, confidence and a love of the game! They have thoroughly enjoyed the sessions so far! #SWOY #stwilliamofyork #catholicprimaryschool #SE23 #lewisham #SElondon #kent #cricket #sport

"There are wonderful benefits of a small school. Everything is more personal. Parents and children are greeted daily and everyone knows everyone’s name. The school is a friendly and caring environment for the children to learn in. Parents feel confident that their children are happy and we feel that we can take concerns to the teacher directly."
