Science Week at SWOY

We have had a fantastic week at SWOY celebrating science!

This week...

On Monday we had some special visitors! A parent came in to speak to us about how they use science in their job. He brought some animals' hearts and we learnt lots about biology.

We also met Laura Tobin from ITV News. She is a scientist and meteorologist. She taught us about the science involved in reporting the weather and she answered all of our questions!

On Tuesday, we had a special arrival - duck eggs! They arrived in an incubator and we have been watching the ducklings hatch. We currently have three ducklings and expect more to hatch over the weekend. We are enjoying looking after the ducklings are we are expected to hold them next week!

On Wednesday, we visited the science photography exhibition. There were lots of photographs around the theme of change and adapt. It was interesting to look at the different examples of change and adaptation in our environment and in modern technology. The children also did a range of science experiments in the afternoon.

On Thursday, a doctor came in to visit! She visited every class and talked about how important science is in the world of medicine. The children were really fascinated and enjoyed learning about being a doctor.

On Friday, the children joined their buddy classes and created marble runs! It was so lovely to see the older children helping their buddy and watching them enjoy science together.

Check out the photo album in our Gallery to see more of the science we have been up to this week!
