Welcome

I am delighted to welcome you to St William of York Catholic Primary School. We are a small, one-form entry school, committed to ensuring that we provide a safe, nurturing, positive and inclusive experience for our children, parents and staff. We are situated in the heart of Forest Hill and we have often been referred to as the ‘hidden gem’.

Our school ethos is centred around the values of love, respect and kindness. We work in partnership with parents to celebrate the uniqueness of every child and embrace the individual gifts and talents of all of those in our school community. We work hard to support pupils to develop a love of learning and strive for academic excellence in all areas of the curriculum. We are an inclusive school and we welcome families of all faiths, or no faith at all.

I have recently taken over as Headteacher of St William of York and I feel extremely honoured and privileged to have the opportunity to lead our school and build upon the success already achieved. I joined the team at St William of York in 2011, and I have loved every second of my journey over the last thirteen years. I started here as a student teacher and quickly realised what a special place our school really is.

As a parent to two young children, Millie and Jesse, my goal is for them to be happy, safe and achieve their potential; this is part of the vision that I have for the children at St William of York. I am committed to ensuring that our children have meaningful and memorable experiences during their time at school and that the strong sense of community and emphasis on relationships continues. I feel very fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented staff team, who aim for excellence in everything that they do and encourage our pupils to achieve their full potential.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of visiting our fantastic school, please do get in touch to arrange a tour and meet with me.

Best wishes

Hayley Mayers

Headteacher

Pupils are very happy and kept safe at this school. They care about one another and treat each other with the utmost kindness and respect. Right from the start of the early years , they learn to take turns and listen carefully to their classmates ...By the end of Year 6, pupils are well prepared for the next stage in their education (2022)
