Welcome from the Head Teacher

At St William of York Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that we provide a safe, nurturing, positive and inclusive experience for our children, parents and staff.

We aim for excellence in all that we do and encourage our pupils to achieve their full potential. We work in partnership with parents to celebrate the uniqueness of every child and embrace the individual gifts and talents of all of those in our school community. We are an inclusive school and we welcome families of all faiths, or no faith at all.

Year 5 Greek Topic Day: A lively celebration of ancient Greece! Students danced to traditional Greek music, tasted authentic Greek foods, and were transported back in time by a theater company that brought ancient Greece to life. An unforgettable day of culture and hands-on learning!

Year 2 had a great time exploring St. Paul's Cathedral today! We were amazed by Christopher Wren's design and climbed all 528 steps to the Golden Gallery, with a stop at the Whispering Gallery on the way. A day full of history and adventure! #StPaulsCathedral #Year2Trip #GoldenGallery

Yesterday's Induction Mass was filled with heartfelt moments as we officially welcomed Mrs. Mayers into her new role as Head Teacher. The children and parents offered her meaningful gestures, symbolising the many different parts of our school that she will now nurture and lead. Year 6 students brought items representing the enrichment opportunities at SWOY, while Year 5 presented a map to highlight our close relationship with the parish. Year 4 shared a photo of our school community, and Year 3 brought medical supplies, symbolising her care for our physical and emotional well-being. Year 2 presented exercise books to reflect the high-quality learning under her guidance, and Year 1 shared a dove, representing her role as a peacemaker. SWOYSA offered tokens, symbolising the fundraising efforts Mrs. Mayers will lead to support our community. It was a beautiful moment of unity, faith, and gratitude as we brought the gifts of the Eucharist to the altar, giving thanks for the many blessings that Mrs. Mayers will continue to help grow in our school. #WelcomeMrsMayers #InductionMass #CommunitySpirit #FaithInLeadership #GrowingTogether

"There are wonderful benefits of a small school. Everything is more personal. Parents and children are greeted daily and everyone knows everyone’s name. The school is a friendly and caring environment for the children to learn in. Parents feel confident that their children are happy and we feel that we can take concerns to the teacher directly."
