This week's letter from Mrs Mayers...
|
|
Dear Parents and Carers
We have had a fantastic week celebrating our Science Week and there have been lots of memorable moments for the children. We are very grateful to all of the parents who came into school to talk about their jobs - the children were fascinated by the different ways that science plays an important role in lots of different types of jobs. The children also enjoyed meeting and talking to Laura Tobin, who is a scientist and meteorologist for ITV News. Thank you to Mr Taylor, our Science Lead, who has worked hard to organise lots of exciting science events for the children.
We have all been enjoying looking after the ducklings that have hatched in our Reception classroom. At the moment, we have three ducklings and they have been very popular this week! We will keep a close eye on the other duck eggs over the weekend and hopefully we will have more ducklings for the children to hold on Monday.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Kind regards
Hayley Mayers (Headteacher)

Staff Update
It is with mixed emotions that I announce that Mrs Webster, our Yr2 Teaching Assistant, will be leaving us at the end of this term. Mrs Webster has worked at our school for the last ten years and has contributed so much to our community during her time here. She is moving on to a new role as a nanny for a local family. We are very sad that she will be leaving but we are also happy for her as we know she is excited about a new role and we wish her every success in this next chapter. We are in the process of recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support in Yr2 and I will update you on the progress of this next term.

Reading Champions Quiz
Last week, our Yr6 Reading Champions team took part in a competition organised by the National Literacy Trust. The quiz is designed for keen readers aged 10-14. There is no prescribed booklist and each year the quiz references over 250 fiction titles! Our team scored so well against other primary and secondary schools that we won the award for BEST PRIMARY SCHOOL! This shows we have some very impressive readers in our school! Well done to Yr6 and our Reading Team: Thomas, Sofia, Jasper and Ella.
