It has been a busy week at school and it has been fantastic to see how quickly the children have settled back into school routines. I would like to say a particular 'welcome' to our new Nursery and Reception children, who have joined us this week. We will have our Welcome Assembly next week, on Friday 20th September 2024 at 2.30pm, to formally welcome the Reception children into the SWOY community. This will be followed by our Welcome BBQ at 5pm. Please do join us if you can!
Class teachers will send their termly letters and topic plans to you today. There will also be an opportunity to find out more at the 'Meet the Teacher' event next week on Wednesday 18th September 2024. This is for parents with children in Yr1 - Yr6 and will take place in your child's classroom. The session is only 20 minutes long and is repeated to enable you to visit multiple teachers if you have more than one child. The timings of the sessions are: 3.30pm, 3.50pm or 4.10pm. The session is for parents only so please drop your children into the 'creche' in the Music Room before attending.
This week, classes in Yr2 - Yr6 held elections for new School Council representatives. Well done to everyone who put themselves forward as a potential School Council representative and congratulations to our successful candidates. We look forward to hearing your ideas for our wonderful school!
Yours Sincerely
Hayley Mayers (Headteacher)
Parent Tours for Nursery & Reception 2025
Do you have friends who are looking at local schools and nurseries? Please direct them to our admissions page where they can book a Parent Tours and see for themselves how lovely our school is.
Attendance - new guidelines from DfE
Good school attendance gives your child the opportunity of success and helps develop skills for life. Your child should attend school every day unless there is an unavoidable cause such as illness. Missing school can be damaging to your child’s learning, social development, and life opportunities. Children who miss many days from school fall behind their peers, and struggle to catch up.
Violin / Brass Small Group Lessons - If you would like to add your child to the waiting list for small group Violin (Y2-Y6) or small group Brass (Y4-Y6) - please add your child's name here. We will contact you when there is space.
Classes are provided by Lewisham Music and charged per term, instrument hire is also available. Fees will be loaded to your child's ParentPay account.
CREDIT UNION for SWOY Children & Families
Help your child learn the importance of saving and managing money! Save a little each week! Pennies or pounds! CREDIT UNION is supported by a parent volunteer and will happen on the first TUESDAY each month, in the old library next to Yr 3 classroom. 8.45 - 9am.
